MARCH 2009

The President, Mrs June Smith, welcomed members and guests, including Sally Hall WI Advisor,

The guest speaker, Mrs Penny Holland, regaled members with her stories of life on the amateur stage spanning more that 50 years, She was bitten by the acting bug when as a small child she attended a pantomime and was given the opportunity of sitting in Cinderella's coach. She joined various local amateur operatic groups and even after her marriage and four children she still pursued her stage hobby appearing in numerous shows as well as directing. She recounted some amusing anecdotes of the things that can go wrong and how the show must still go on.

Her parents were in amateur dramatics, her three sons are all professional performers and her daughter is a music teacher so it certainly runs in the family.

Mrs Jackie Whyatt gave the vote of thanks.

The President Mrs June Smith thanked Mrs Sally Hall, WI adviser for attending the meeting.
