THE SOMERCOTES GROUP 2009 PRODUCE SHOW
On Saturday, 4th July 2009, Fulstow Village Hall opened its doors to receive exhibits for the first ever Group Produce show.
In spite of competition from two weddings, Waddington Air Show and Wimbledon we had almost 100 entries for the twelve classes. Well done everyone who exhibited.
The judges from Hull, who assessed the Preserves, Baking and Handicrafts, and the judge from Marshchapel who assessed the Flower Arrangement, were very impressed with the number of exhibits and their quality.
The winner, with most points, was Liz Morris, Alvingham & District WI; 2nd was Irene Lonsdale, Alvingham & District WI, and 3rd was Kath Humberstone, North Somercotes WI.
The result of the Flower Arrangement was: 1st - Saltfleet & Skidbrooke WI, 2nd – North Somercotes WI and joint 3rd – Alvingham & District WI and Saltfleetby WI.
Kath Humberstone was the Auctioneer for produce kindly donated by exhibitors. She did a wonderful job parting money from its owners. Well done, Kath! Thank you very much.
We received many accolades and I would like to add mine to all of you who entered the show, helped with the raffle, the refreshments and all the other jobs that made the show a great success.
