Yes, you can. You need to pay the full annual subscription to one WI; this will entitle you to full voting rights within that WI and allow you to hold any position on its committee.

Membership of the second WI of your choice is subject, firstly, to the approval of that WI's committee, to whom you will need to show your full membership card, and, secondly, to payment of the second WI's share only of the annual subscription. You will have no voting rights at your second WI but will be able to join in all its activities.

I HAVE BOOKED A SPEAKER FOR MY WI WHO WANTS TO SELL HIS OWN GOODS AT THE MEETING. IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

You should let your speaker know beforehand that if they wish to sell their own goods they must sell them on the WI Sales Table and that your usual commission (usually 10%) will be deducted.

THE COUNTY HANDBOOK LISTS SPEAKERS WHO WOULD BE OF INTEREST TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION TO WHICH I BELONG; CAN I SHOW MY HANDBOOK TO THE SECRETARY OR GIVE HIM DETAILS OF THE SPEAKERS I KNOW WILL BE OF INTEREST?

No. Under the Data Protection Act the information included in the County Handbook must only be used for official WI purposes; this includes WI events, speakers for your meetings, delegates, resolutions, competition judges and information for new members). Names and addresses in the County Handbook must therefore not be given to other individuals or organisations. Please ensure that your members are aware of this rule.

I HAVE HEARD THAT I CAN NO LONGER OBTAIN BUSINESS STATIONERY SUCH AS MINUTE BOOKS AND ACCOUNTS BOOKS FROM WI HOUSE. IS THIS CORRECT?

No. WI business stationery is still obtainable from the Federation Office at Lee Street, Louth, as is a selection of giftware. Publications currently in stock are Women's World and Calendars and we are hoping to stock a Cookery Book in the future. New items and any changes to what is available will be advertised under LATEST so please watch that page!
