COUNTDOWN WANTS WOMEN

The TV  show, Countdown, is seeking more women contestants.

Women are the brains behind the long-running Channel 4 show - lexicographer, Suzie Dent, and new mathematician, Rachel Riley, regularly impress audiences with their word and number skills - and yet in the show's 26 year run there have been only 5 female series winners.  Channel 4 now wants to hear from women who think they may have what it takes to be a Countdown champion.

Like the WI,  Countdown is a great British institution and has long had a place at the heart of afternoon television, reflected in the show's friendly nature;  each contestant in effect becomes part of the Countdown family.

On receipt of application potential candidates will be invited to auditions which are held across the country.  There, they will pit their wits against the clock with both letters and numbers challenges.
