LNFWI: The Lincolnshire North Federation of WIs

NEW TO THE WI?    NOT A WI MEMBER?

If you are new to the WI movement or have just browsed your way to this site by chance and would like to know more about the WI itself, you can visit the website of the National Federation of Women's Institutes by clicking on the NFWI link on the adjacent navigation panel.

The WI movement is the largest voluntary women's organization in the UK and it exists to educate women so that they are enabled to play an effective role in their communities, as well as expanding their personal horizons and developing important skills which they can pass on.

LNFWI

The purpose of the LNFWI is to enable the furthering of the aims of the WI movement within northern Lincolnshire.

If you like what you have seen while browsing this site and would like to consider becoming a member there are two main ways in which you can do this:

1.  Contact the Lincolnshire North Federation Office (full details below).

2.  Visit the WI of your choice on a meeting night; the secretary will be pleased to assist.

ACWW:  ASSOCIATED COUNTRY WOMEN OF THE WORLD

Formed in 1934 to promote the interests of women living in rural areas, the association now includes 485 societies in 65 countries around the world.  It aims to encourage goodwill, friendship and understanding between women and for them to work together for the relief of poverty and the promotion of health and education.  Pennies For Friendship, including the donations collected annually at the LNFWI Spring Council meeting, provides the bulk of funds for ACWW projects.  These are usually small-scale, local projects aimed at improving life for women and thereby the whole community.  Many projects, such as Water For All,  involve UNESCO or other UN organizations.  Recently, emphasis has been on leadership and skill training to prepare Women For Tomorrow's World.  LNFWI's representative is willing to talk to WIs about the work of ACWW;  The fee is £10 and cheques should be made payable to Lincolnshire North FWI.  For bookings please contact  the Federation Office.
