ABOUT US:

THE SOMERCOTES  GROUP OF WIs

The Somercotes Group is led by Group Convenor, Carol Hill, who will hold office until 31st December 2011.

She is ably assisted by Group Secretary, Terry Ashby, and by all the other Committee Members who represent their WIs.  At present, the post of Home Economics Leader is vacant.  if you would like to volunteer for this post please contact the Webmaster by clicking CONTACT US on the adjacent navigation panel.

THE SOMERCOTES GROUP COMMITTEE
Each of the 9 WIs in The Somercotes Group is eligible to send two members as representatives to each Group Committee meeting.  Committee meetings are held approximately 4 times a year, when the Group's activities and events are reviewed and planned.  The Committee is led by the Group Convenor and assisted in post by the Group Secretary, the Group Treasurer and committee members.

The next Committee meeting will be held at 1.30 pm on Thursday 21st January 2010 at WI House.

THE SOMERCOTES GROUP'S ACTIVITIES

The Group holds various events throughout the year, including its Spring and Autumn meetings.  Its organising body seeks to book entertaining and informative speakers and demonstrators for these meetings.  For example, in September this year Sheila Dibnah, widow of the multi-talented steeple-jack and engineer, Fred Dibnah, was our Guest Speaker.  Tickets were offered to the public once Group Members  had been given their opportunity to purchase.
