ACWW:  ASSOCIATED COUNTRY WOMEN OF THE WORLD

Formed in 1934 to promote the interests of women living in rural areas, the association now includes 485 societies in 65 countries around the world.  It aims to encourage goodwill, friendship and understanding between women and for them to work together for the relief of poverty and the promotion of health and education.  Pennies For Friendship, including the donations collected annually at the LNFWI Spring Council meeting, provides the bulk of funds for ACWW projects.  These are usually small-scale, local projects aimed at improving life for women and thereby the whole community.  Many projects, such as Water For All,  involve UNESCO or other UN organizations.  Recently, emphasis has been on leadership and skill training to prepare Women For Tomorrow's World.  LNFWI's representative is willing to talk to WIs about the work of ACWW;  The fee is £10 and cheques should be made payable to Lincolnshire North FWI.  For bookings please contact  Federation Office.
