The Lincolnshire North Federation of Women's institutes The LNFWI is one of 70 County and Island Federations which together form the NFWI.
Staff: COMPANY SECRETARY/FEDERATION SECRETARY & ASSISTANT FEDERATION SECRETARY The LNFWI operates a committee structure through which it works to optimize the delivery of services to all members through their WIs and Groups within the north of the county. Committees may include members who are not on the Board of Trustees but who have been co-opted to serve on a particular committee.
County News is the monthly newsletter for LNFWI members and contains all the latest news on courses and events in the Lincolnshire North Federation. Copies are purchased through the Federation Office and are distributed to WIs with the monthly mailing shot. If you do not receive a copy but would like to do so, please ask your Institute's secretary for details. Alternatively, if you would like your own copy mailed to you separately, please contact Federation Office. Items for inclusion in County News should reach the Federation Office by the end of the month. All new WI members will receive a free copy when their names are notified to the Federation Office by their WI secretary. The price of County News is reviewed annually.
Denman College is the NFWI's own Adult Education College, situated in the beautiful village of Marcham in Oxfordshire. You can gain many qualifications or credits in a wide variety of subjects, or just go for the fun of it. Denman College courses are open to all WI members and some courses are also open to husbands/partners. Ask your WI secretary to let you see a copy of the current Denman programme. The LNFWI Denman College Representative will give a talk to your WI about the college for a fee of £10; cheques should be made payable to Lincolnshire North FWI. For bookings, and if you have any questions about Denman College, please contact her via Federation Office. She would also like to be kept informed if you are accepted on a course. The LNFWI Science Coordinator aims to promote science knowledge throughout the Lincolnshire North Federation and is willing to visit WIs to prove that Science Is Fun. She also arranges Science Days to coincide with science 'Set Weeks' in March each year and may be contacted via Federation Office or via e-mail: .
The LNFWI Radio Officer seeks to maintain the WI voice on Radio Lincolnshire and needs to have your news, views and comment. She would like to hear about events, people in your WI, what is happening and what is going to happen in your community. Find out more on our RADIO LINKS page.
ACWW: ASSOCIATED COUNTRY WOMEN OF THE WORLD Formed in 1934 to promote the interests of women living in rural areas, the association now includes 485 societies in 65 countries around the world. It aims to encourage goodwill, friendship and understanding between women and for them to work together for the relief of poverty and the promotion of health and education. Pennies For Friendship, including the donations collected annually at the LNFWI Spring Council meeting, provides the bulk of funds for ACWW projects. These are usually small-scale, local projects aimed at improving life for women and thereby the whole community. Many projects, such as Water For All, involve UNESCO or other UN organizations. Recently, emphasis has been on leadership and skill training to prepare Women For Tomorrow's World. LNFWI's representative is willing to talk to WIs about the work of ACWW; The fee is £10 and cheques should be made payable to Lincolnshire North FWI. For bookings please contact Federation Office.
